Make A Difference Season
Make A Difference events will be held in Fall 2024 - Project dates variable
The United Way of Western Crawford County is excited to announce that the Make A Difference Skilled Project Request Line will open on Wednesday, August 21, 2024. Homeowners in need of small, critical home repairs can call 814-337-1251 between 8:30 AM and 2:30 PM to apply for assistance.
This year’s skilled projects will address critical home repairs for residents across Western Crawford County. To be considered for a project, applicants are encouraged to call as soon as possible. The request line for skilled projects will close on Friday, August 30th, 2024. It is important to note that submitting an application does not guarantee acceptance; volunteers will visit each work site to assess the safety and scope of the project before any decisions are made.
In addition to the skilled project request line, the General Yard Maintenance Project Request Hotline will be open from September 16 through September 27, 2024. This line will handle requests for general yard maintenance tasks such as leaf raking, hedge clipping, and yard clean-up. Calls for these types of projects will only be accepted during the designated dates and times.
Make A Difference projects will be completed throughout the Fall season on designated Saturdays. If a project is accepted, the committee will notify the applicant with the specific date and time for service.
The Make A Difference committee is eager to embark on a fulfilling season of service and encourages residents to take advantage of this opportunity to enhance their homes and yards.

1. Donate: We provide a light breakfast and lunch for project volunteers to boost their energy throughout the day, especially on time-consuming projects. These items include:
- Bottled Water/ Coffee/ Hot Chocolate
- Donuts/Muffins
- Fruit (apples, bananas, etc.)
- Granola Bars
Please note: Lending works too! We also use a variety of tools for projects throughout the day: rakes, hedge trimmers, power-washers, shovels, etc. Any support in this area is greatly appreciated!
2. Volunteer
Service events would be impossible without the volunteers. We ask local organizations and residents to form a team to participate. Please encourage your colleagues and friends to join this effort! Having a team participate in these events can enhance the visibility of your organization and commitment to the community. Please call (814) 337-1251.
